The Internet is shaping our societies, but who is shaping the development of the Internet? And based on what standards should this be done? At Article19 we firmly believe that the Internet should be an instrument for freedom of expression and access to information. Help us to protect and strengthen the Internet as a rights enabling environment!
The Technology Adviser (TA) for the Digital Programme supports ARTICLE 19’s work on freedom of expression and information on the Internet. The TA will work with ARTICLE 19 to provide the technical engagement with specific standards bodies and provide support to the other members of the organisation working on mainstreaming human rights in Internet governance, specifically in ICANN, the IETF/IRTF, IEEE, ITU as well as work on mainstreaming the usage of HTTP status code 451.
You will be working with an international team of three, the Head of Digital is based in Amsterdam, the Programme Officer is based in London and Brussels, and the Programme Assistant in New York. We also work closely with the Law and Policy programme, based in London and various regional offices. As Team Digital is spread across different time-zones, clear communication is key.
